This USO show featured Wayne Newton, Jessica Simpson, Bo Derek, Neal McCoy, Ruth Pointer of the Pointer Sisters, Rob Schneider ("You Can Do It"), Peter Macnicol, Miss America Kandice Krueger, and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

The USO is a unique organization that provides FREE entertainment to all troops, their families, and retirees of the Uniformed Services. As listed above, the USO brings top quality entertainers to the troops and gives a great show that some cannot even pay for. It is a wonderful event, and also a very patriotic one. My hat goes off to the USO, and the entertainers that participate for providing such quality entertainment at no cost to service members.

This was the first tour that Wayne Newton also acted as chairman for the USO. I don't think anyone can fill the great Bob Hope's shoes but, Wayne Newton is a very worthy follower. The show featured all characteristics a USO show should. There were moments of laughter and gags played on some troops followed by great singing performances by Wayne Newton accompanied by a quality professional band. The night continued with great performances by all guests mentioned, and the crowed was overwhelmed with emotions that will always be remembered.

On a personal note, the surprise of the night was Jessica Simpson. I knew very little of Jessica, and basicaly this was still the begining of her career. While I was backstage I noticed her all dressed up in a red leather patriotic sexy suit. I was stunned by her beauty and especially by her physique. She was a brunette at the time and as far as I'm concerned in the most beautiful shape I have ever seen her. Her physical make up reminded me of Monica Bellucci. A beautiful women that was not "anorexic." Too many times the music and entertainment industries force women to loose large amounts of weight to compete with the "model" look. Jessica was not that way. Today, sorry to say, she has lost that wonderful natural beauty that resonates in true womenhood. Personaly I think she has lost too much weight and looks unatural. However, beyond looks, and I mean much beyond, Jessica really surprised me when she sang her first notes. She has a voice and I mean a voice! My father was an opera singer and I lived around the opera world for many years and know when someone has a voice or not. Jessica Simpson had a strong well schooled voice that merits more than just pop music. It is a shame that she is playing the "Dumb Blonde" because she is much more talented than people know. Such is the "highway" of pop music.
