What can't I say about Robert Plant? Just the name itself is a legendary story. Therefore, I will share some personal experiences I have had concerning Robert Plant and the legend.

I was very lucky to see him for the first time at a Led Zeppelin concert in 1977 at Madison Square Garden (can't remember exact date because those years tend to be a little fuzzy - if you get my drift). I was on leave from the Army at the time, and was visiting my home town of Brooklyn. Little did I know that on that weekend Led Zeppelin was at the Garden. I didn't have a ticket and they were sold out. I Never saw Zeppelin live and I so wanted to do so. Not having a ticket complicated things but, I knew that New Yorkers could always count on ticket scouts. I paid $50.00 for the ticket and every cent was worth it! I heard so many mixed reviews on Zeppelin live. Some people claimed they were a recording band but not a band to see live. I had to see myself.

The Garden was packed and the anticipation filled the arena. Police were everywhere and no one was smoking joints or partying in any way for that manor. Then it happened. The lights went out and the crowd went crazy because they knew Led Zeppelin was coming on stage. In a split second one could see thousands of lighters being lit and then the pot smoke filled the air. I knew I could count on my fellow New Yorkers to party. I had 5 excellent Columbian Gold (real Columbian Gold) joints on me and lit up the first one. The guy to my left lit something up too. I never like to bogart so I passed my joint to him and he passed his to me. It turned out to be true Thai Stick! We kept on passing to each other the entire concert.

And what a concert it was! Robert Plant did miss a few notes here and there but not very often. Plant's presence on the stage was legendary. Robert Plant is one of Rock & Roll's major singer icon and he showed why that night. He was able to rock hard and melt the girls hearts all in the same concert. He moved graciously and jammed hard. I know that many people did and did not get to see Robert Plant in his prime because the band's life was cut short. But, if you did have the opportunity to see Robert Plant with Led Zeppelin then you know he is a legend. In my mind he has set the standard for many rock & roll singers to follow and emulate, which is not a very easy task to adhere to. Like some try to immitate Elvis Presley so do so many try the same with Robert Plant. But, there will only be one Robert Plant. He was the greatest and an extrodinary entertainer of Rock & Roll.

Today of course he is much older, and unlike so many matured rock stars that play instruments Robert Plant can't go out and buy a new "Gibson." The instrument he uses naturally wears with the passing of time, and is extremely difficult to keep fine tuned with the so many variables in the enviroment that are counter productive to keeping a voice in perfect shape. But still today Robert Plant posses that magical resonance that once made him so great and continues to rock hard and send chills up and down your spine with every step he takes you up the "stairway to heaven." That is why one is called a legend. I give you Robert Plant the Legend.
