Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds is another group I do not know much about. However, I did visit his site and discovered much about his music and lyrics. Personally, I believe him to be on the "dark side" of things. Not that that is bad. There are many people who wonder on the dark side of things. Just think of Edgar Alan Poe, Johh Crpenter, The Doors, and many others. I find Nick Cave to be unique in his expressions that are attractive to many but not to all. But the world is made of multiples and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have carved their "nich" in the music world. To better explain Nick Cave I rather paste part of his letter he wrote to MTV turning down his nomination for awards MTV wanted to offer him:

"...I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN OF THE OPINION THAT MY MUSIC IS UNIQUE AND INDIVIDUAL AND EXISTS BEYOND THE REALMS INHABITED BY THOSE WHO WOULD REDUCE THINGS TO MERE MEASURING. I AM IN COMPETITION WITH NO-ONE. MY RELATIONSHIP WITH MY MUSE IS A DELICATE ONE AT THE BEST OF TIMES AND I FEEL THAT IT IS MY DUTY TO PROTECT HER FROM INFLUENCES THAT MAY OFFEND HER FRAGILE NATURE. SHE COMES TO ME WITH THE GIFT OF SONG AND IN RETURN I TREAT HER WITH THE RESPECT I FEEL SHE DESERVES - IN THIS CASE THIS MEANS NOT SUBJECTING HER TO THE INDIGNITIES OF JUDGEMENT AND COMPETITION. MY MUSE IS NOT A HORSE AND I AM IN NO HORSE RACE AND IF INDEED SHE WAS, STILL I WOULD NOT HARNESS HER TO THIS TUMBREL - THIS BLOODY CART OF SEVERED HEADS AND GLITTERING PRIZES. MY MUSE MAY SPOOK! MAY BOLT! MAY ABANDON ME COMPLETELY! SO ONCE AGAIN, TO THE PEOPLE AT MTV, I APPRECIATE THE ZEAL AND ENERGY THAT WAS PUT BEHIND MY LAST RECORD, I TRULY DO AND SAY THANK YOU AND AGAIN I SAY THANK YOU BUT NO...NO THANK YOU.

All I can remember is that while I was photographing Nick I heard him say "Fuck Billy Joel." I am a big fan of Billy Joel, and also a New Yorker like Billy Joel. I don't understand how any artist can knock down another artist. It's just not cool in any fashion. So, all I can say is F.U.C.K YOU NICK CAVE AND THE HORSE YOU RODE ON! Having said that, I know there is a great following of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.
