NAZARETH LIVE

NAZARETHNazareth is a band that I have always liked. My favorite album is Hair of The Dog. I have played that album over and over until I could not play it no more because it was loaded with scratches. Luckily, while visiting Tai Wan in 1979, I bought another Hair of The Dog for 50 Cents! There wer no copyright laws and all albums sold for 50 Cents. To say the least I walked out of the store with over 50 albums! So I started listening again to Hair of The Dog but, first taped it before this album would make the same end as the first. I love the entire album! I just played the tape for my 11 year old son yesterday and he told me it Rocked! so now we have another fan of Hair of The Dog and Nazareth.

As you noticed there are very little photos on this page of Nazareth. That is because I was working for Uriah Heep at the time and needed my film for them. They were touring with Nazareth on the famous Double Trouble Tour. Unfortunately, money was tight (it is still tight today) and I had a limited amount of film. However, I still came up with 4 descent shots. More than anything I consider this page a small tribute to the late Darrell Sweet whom I got to meet and party with. Not "to sound corny or anything" but, Darrell was realy a sweet guy. Oh yeah, he could rock but, he had such a great disposition with people and children. I say this because I saw one day how his eyes lit up when he encountered a toddler of one of the organizers in Germany. He stood over the car seat, which was laid on top of a car's back trunk, and just palyed joyfully with that baby. It was beautiful to see a hard rocker show his humanity i such a "Sweet" way. It was beautiful. I will always remember Darrell that way.

Mick Box introduced me to Nazareth in the hotel we were staying at. Immediately Dan McCafferty and Pete Agnew "embraced" me and offered me some drinks at the bar. They treated me so well and were so down to earth, and I felt so elated to be in their company. Later that evening we all went to dinner at the "Blue Angel" Italian restaurant. Returning to the hotel Dan and Pete once again invited me to have drinks with them. I couldn't refuse. Not knowing what I was getting myself into, drinking with "Scots," I continued to hold my own. Luckily I grew up in a neighborhood with many New York Irish and was used to drinking in a certain manner. We drank all night, Cognac I remember. Thank god I am a veteran of Cognac. All I can say is the Scots can realy drink and the Irish are close second. We drank and talked all night and when the bar closed we went up to Dan's room to continue the party. It was great! We talked about everything. In fact, we also discovered that we go to the same restaurant in Sorrento, Naples, Italy.

What can I say. I was lucky and privilidged to be in Nazareth's company and to be treated in such a way. I will never forget that experience and always erge the company of Nazareth, especially Dan and Pete. Thank you guys.
