Ian Paice, of course, is the drummer for Deep Purple, and as far as I'm concerned the backbone of Deep Purple. Ian is not only the drummer for Deep Purple but, also a highly regarded drummer of all time in rock & roll history. He is one of a kind and is known for many unique drum riffs that only some can aspire to. He has played/recorded with many other artist to include Paul McCartney and David Gilmore. Ian Paice is well known in the music business and for me to write about his career would be a miservice when there is tons of information in books and all through the internet. So, if you are interested in discovering this unique drummer just "google in" his name and watch the fireworks.

I met Ian Paice for the first time at a drum clinic on 31 May 1999, at S. Vito Tagliamento (PN), Italy, where I was hired by the sponsors to be the official photographer of the event. We met at sound check. I asked Ian if there were any "do's and don'ts" he had concerning photographs. He replied "No, this is Italy, do what you wish." Boy, that was gold for a photographer. After sound check we went to a press conference. When the conference was over Ian offered me the possibility to have a beer with him. I, of course, accepted. It was at that moment where Ian and I became friends. We talked about everything, to include Brooklyn and Atlantic City. I explained to him my wish to become a known concert photographer and then he offered me an indefinite invitation to every clinic and Deep Purple concert "if I was in town." Ladies and gentleman, I think you understand how I felt! Ian has kept his word over the years and keeps on keeping his word. He has always treated me with respect and considers me his personal photographer while on tour. I am greatful. What more can I say?
